Inherited heart conditions can affect people of any age and can be life-threatening. For many families, the first indication of a hereditary condition is when a family member dies suddenly with no obvious cause or explanation. Inherited heart conditions occur when a mutation is present in one or more of our genes that can be passed down from parent to child.

While all inherited heart conditions are rare, the Northwell Health Genomics Alliance provides genetic testing to identify the cause of more common hereditary cardiac conditions as well as extremely rare mutations. Common hereditary cardiac disorder tests are listed below.
